Stewarding Technology with Biblical Wisdom

Genesis 1:28 - God gave humanity dominion over creation, but with it comes the responsibility for wise stewardship. We are managers, not masters.

Three Guiding Principles for Our Response

1. Technology is a Tool, Not a Master

AI and data centers aren't inherently evil - they're tools that can be used for good or ill. The Bible doesn't condemn technology; it warns against making anything an idol. The danger comes when we surrender human agency to algorithms or trust machines more than God.

2. Local Engagement Matters

As Amarillo citizens, we have both a right and responsibility to engage. This isn't happening in Silicon Valley or China - it's HERE. Attend city council meetings (October 14 is crucial), ask informed questions, and hold leaders accountable for sustainable practices. Your voice matters.

3. Spiritual Preparation is Essential

Whether or not these are the "last days" (only God knows the hour), we're called to be wise, discerning, and faithful. Technology is accelerating faster than human wisdom can keep pace. Stay rooted in Scripture, community, and prayer.

Matthew 10:16 - "Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."

A Prayer for Our Community

"Lord, grant us wisdom to navigate these unprecedented times. Help us understand beneficial technology while maintaining spiritual discernment. Give our leaders - Cole Stanley, Don Tipps, and others - supernatural wisdom as they make decisions that will impact generations. Help us be salt and light in a world of accelerating change. May Amarillo be a city that honors You especially as it embraces and prepares a future for our children. May Amarillo be a beacon of hope leading people to Christ and to His perfect peace.   5. What safeguards should we advocate for in our local community?
  6. How can we prepare the next generation for a world where AI is everywhere?
  7. Is this the infrastructure for the "image that speaks" from Revelation 13:15?
  8. How do we maintain human agency when machines can process information faster than all humanity combined?
Remember: We're not called to fear the future, but to face it with faith, wisdom, and engagement. God is sovereign over all technology, all time, and all circumstances.
